IndianOil eyeing opportunities in bio-jet fuel business

According to reports, Indian Oil Corporation is exploring opportunities to create bio-jet fuel production capability through collaborations with overseas firms, and has tied-up with Pratt & Whitney of Canada (a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines) and select Canadian universities for the purpose, , according to press release issued by the company.

Quoting Mr R.S. Butola, Chairman, IndianOil, who was here to address the Corporation’s 18{+t}{+h}International Aviation Conference , the release says that as a leader in the aviation fuel business with over 63 per cent market share, IndianOil is ready to take on future challenges to sustain its leadership status in a highly competitive market.

With the Indian aviation sector expected to generate approximately 2.6 million jobs in the next 10 years, the company will be undertaking mega aviation-related projects to expand and upgrade its countrywide aviation fuelling infrastructure to be able to meet the growing demands of its stake-holders.

IndianOil caters to over 140 domestic and international airlines, besides the defence services. With India consuming about 6 mt of aviation fuel a year , IndianOil is focussing on enhancing its refuelling capabilities.
