PPA signed for 340MW of Solar PV projects under National Solar Mission in India

NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN), the trading arm of NTPC has been designated as the nodal agency for sale and purchase of grid-connected solar power under the Phase-1 of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission. Last December, NVVN had issued letters of intent to the short-listed developers for the second batch of Phase-1.

NVVN had said earlier that it expects to sign power purchase agreements with 22 companies by January-end to develop 350 MW. According to reports, it is learnt that except for Sujana Towers, all the other solar power developers who won projects in the second round (Batch II) of the National Solar Mission, have signed power purchase agreements with the buyer of the power, NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd. The deadline for signing of the PPAs was January 27.

In the case of Sujana Towers, which won the right to put up a 10-MW plant in southern Tamil Nadu (incidentally, the State’s only one), some “clarifications have been sought”, Mr Kapur, Joint Secretary-Solar, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, said.
