L&T Infra raises $ 100 mn through ECB to fund solar projects

Gujarat government proposes the lowest tariff of National Solar Mission (Rs. 7.49/Kwhr) for delayed projects

According to reports, Gujarat government has proposed maximum tariff of Rs7.49 per unit, which is half of current tariff of Rs15 per unit, to solar power developers, who fail to start their unit by January 28, 2012. The state power utility Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) had signed power purchase agreements with solar power developers offering them tariff of Rs15 per unit for units commissioned on or before January 28, 2012, when the control period would end. GMR commissions 25 MW solar plant in Gujarat

According to reports, GMR Energy, a subsidiary of GMR Infrastructure, today said it had entered the renewable power generation with the commissioning of its 25 MW solar plant at Patan in Gujarat. “GMR Energy has commissioned its first 25 MW solar power plant at Patan in Gujarat. This plant also marks GMR Group’s foray into renewable energy space,” a company statement said. Suzlon subsidiary REpower wins 20.5 MW order from UK based RWEnpower Renewables

According to reports, wind turbine maker  Suzlon Energy today said its German subsidiary  REpower has signed a contract to supply 10 wind turbines to England-based RWEnpower Renewables for the Bradwell wind farm. The turbines at Bradwell, with an output of 2.05 mw each, will generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of nearly 12,000 homes annually, Suzlon said in a statement here. Solar power lights up Swedish Embassy

According to reports, in an effort to reduce carbon footprint, the  Swedish Embassy has started using solar panels for power generation. The embassy will meet 10% of its total energy demand through solar power. The embassy building has solar panels  spread over an area of 600 sqm that produce about 75 kw of power.
