Vijayawada Municipal Corp to revive Sriram, Bio methanisation plants

According to reports, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) is proposing to revive Sriram Energy Systems and Bio methanisation plants as part of its New Year plans. The corporation has invited tenders for revival of the Bio methanisation plant located at Ajithsingh Nagar to utilise the bio gas generated from the 40 MD and 20 MLD STPs. Wind installation capacities in India crosses 15.8GW this year

A capacity addition of 3815 MW have been achieved during 2011 from various renewable energy sources. This includes 2827 MW from wind, 310 MW from small hydro, 498 MW from biomass and 180 MW from solar energy. With this, the total installed capacity from renewable has reached 22,447 MW. NVVN to sign PPA for 350MW with 22 solar developers by January-end

According to reports, NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN) expects to sign power purchase agreements with 22 companies by January-end to develop 350 MW of grid-connected solar photovoltaic energy. Khosla funded LanzaTech to help IOC, JSPL set up bio jet fuel plant

Panchabuta was the first to report in June last year that IndianOil and Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) are exploring how to leverage their resources to implement a commercial scale ethanol plant using LanzaTech’s technology to process waste gases from a Jindal steel mill. The fuel ethanol produced by the plant would be blended into IndianOil’s gasoline pool.
