Gemini Communications earlier this year in its announcement of results for the first quarter mentioned that the company has secured financial closure for its 1 MW solar project in Tamil Nadu and has started commissioning of the plant. It is expected to be connected to the grid by end of September 2011, which has yet to be commissioned.
Further the company’s Telecom Services Group(TSG) had announced that it had partnered with M/s Aspiration Energy Pvt limited, to form a Joint venture company, M/sTelesolar Solutions Pvt Ltd, to provide complete energy solutions for telecom towers. Telesolar Soutions had started implementing energy solutions for telecom towers in Bihar and is targeting to energize 100 towers by July 2011 and will maintain the same for a period of 10 years.
According to reports, the parent company Gemini Communication would tie-up with telecom operators to provide solar energy solutions to address power deficiencies for telecom towers.
“We are doing a pilot in Bihar along with a large telecom operator to test this solution, which will be applied in 225 towers across the state. We expect this to reduce 50 per cent of the power cost,” said Pradyumna T Venkat, CEO, Gemini Communication Ltd.
