According to reports, at last, the first solid waste-based power generation plant will become operational in Bangalore by March 2012.
Disclosing this on Tuesday, Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Ltd. MD N.S. Prasanna Kumar said the plant, being set up by a private company, would have a capacity of 8 MW. He expressed concern that though several waste-based power generation projects with a total capacity of 56 MW had been allocated in Bangalore, none had been commissioned yet. Bangalore city had a huge potential for setting up such plants as it was generating a huge quantum of solid waste every day, he said.
