Power Grid achieves 85% electrification target in Orissa

According to reports, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL), a navratna PSU has achieved 85 per cent electrification in 12 districts of Orissa under the Centrally sponsored Rajeev Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY). “We have achieved 80-85 per cent of the target under RGGVY in Orissa. New green building rating system launched in India

According to reports, it will soon be possible to rate buildings according to their environmental friendliness. The upgraded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design 2011(LEED 2011 for India) rating system for green buildings was launched by the Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Dr Farooq Abdullah, on Thursday. Subsidy on solar and clean energy sought in India

Forest dept to install bio-digester technology in eco-tourism spots

According to reports, the state forest department has launched an eco-tourism plan at the eco-tourism centres and the forest rest houses in the state. Among other things, the plan, which begins in Vidarbha, involves installation of bio-digester technology at these places. Bio-digesters, developed by the Delhi-based Defence Research Development Organisation ( DRDO), convert organic waste into nutrient-rich liquid fertiliser and biogas, which can be used a renewable source of electrical and heat energy. GE Energy Financial Services Invests in Moser Baer Clean Energy

According to reports, India’s Moser Baer Clean Energy Ltd. Thursday said GE Energy Financial Services is investing 3 billion rupees ($60.6 million) in its 20 megawatt solar project in Italy. The project is located at a greenhouse at Sardinia in Italy and its first 5 MW are already operational, with another 15 MW expected soon, Moser Baer Clean Energy said in a statement.
