Short-term solutions exist for wind evacuation problem in Tamil Nadu, says Techno Electric

According to reports, Mr P.P. Gupta, Managing Director, Techno Electric,has said  it is possible to solve the problem ( wind evacuation in Tamil Nadu) in about six months, well before the next wind season. Qatar Solar Technologies to build US$1bn polysilicon plant- awards EPC to Punj Lloyd

Qatar Solar Technologies (QSTec) announced today that it will be building a polysilicon production facility worth approximately US$1bn in Qatar. QSTec’s plant will manufacture 8,000 MTPY (metric tons per year) of high-purity solar grade polysilicon and is scheduled to commence operations in 2H 2013. Suzlon Energy receives 25.5 MW order from GAIL India

According to reports, Suzlon Energy Limited has received its third consecutive order from GAIL – Asia’s number one and the world’s number two gas utility company, and one of the ‘Navaratna’ public sector undertakings of the Government of India. The order comprises 17 units of Suzlon’s S82 – 1.5 MW wind turbines, to be commissioned in Karnataka in 2012. This is GAIL’s third wind energy project order placed with Suzlon. LED lights can overcome power shortage in India

According to reports, Eco-friendly LED (light-emitting diode) lights, which consume 35 per cent less than CFL and 80 per cent less than electric bulb, can solve the power shortage in the country, said LED Manufacturers Association (LEDMA) president M.V. Solar-powered rickshaws launched on Kolkata’s lanes

According to reports, five soleckshaws – a solar-powered vehicle that also allows the rider to pedal – were distributed among rickshaw pullers here on Sunday to mark the launch of the vehicle in the city.   Developed and manufactured by Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute in Durgapur, the zero-carbon-emitting vehicle, uses both the mechanical energy and electrical energy achieving a maximum speed of 18 kilometres per hour. Reliance Power to earn Rs 20 billion in carbon credits from Tilaiya UMPP

According to reports, Anil Ambani-led Reliance Power on Monday said it would earn Rs 2,000 crore by trading carbon credits from its ultra mega power plant (UMPP) in Tilaiya, Jharkhand, during the first 10 years of its operations. In a statement, the company said it had got the approval for carbon credits from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
