Focus will be on India’s power sector in 12th Plan: Pranab

According to reports, Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday said the Centre is contemplating an integrated approach to issues related to the power sector and will accord them greater focus during the 12th Plan period (2012-17). Ministry sets up finance unit for climate change issues

According to reports, a new climate change finance unit has been set up under the aegis of the Finance Ministry, Dr Kaushik Basu, Chief Economic Advisor to the Finance Ministry. $750mn loan from ADB to promote smart electricity transfer in India

According to reports, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will invest $750 million for power transmission systems that will help India efficiently transfer electricity to regions where the need is greatest, spurring growth and poverty reduction. Gujarat earns Rs 7.45 billion from sale of power

According to reports, Gujarat, which remains power surplus all through the year, has earned Rs 745 crore from sale of power as on July 2011-12. Gujarat government sold around 2053.19 million units to various states at an average price of Rs 3.63 per unit. Suzlon Energy wins orders worth Rs 2 billion

According to reports,  wind power generator Suzlon Energy today said it has bagged two orders worth over Rs 200 crore from third party operators. Suzlon’s 100 per cent subsidiary Seforge, engaged in manufacturing of large size castings and large diameter forged and machined rings, has received two-third party orders worth Rs 120 crore from an independent wind turbine tower manufacturer for tower flanges, and Rs 80 crore for castings, the company said in a statement.
