Suzlon Energy is planning a $1.3 billion project in regional South Australia

According to reports, Indian wind-power company Suzlon Energy is planning a $1.3 billion project in regional South Australia to power 225,000 homes a year. Outgoing Premier Mike Rann met with the company, the biggest wind-turbine supplier in India and the world’s fifth-largest, during a trade trip earlier this month when he told Indian media that Suzlon had “really been helping us in generating wind power”. 20 grid-connected solar power plants on-stream in India

According to reports, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu are front runners among States that have grid connected solar power plants. A total of 20 grid connected solar power plants with capacity of 1 megawatt (MW) or more have been commissioned in the country by July 2011, the Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Dr Farooq Abdullah, informed the Rajya Sabha on Monday. Reliance Power plans to invest Rs 80 billion to set up 500 MW solar power projects in Rajasthan

According to reports, Reliance Power plans to invest Rs 8,000 crore to set up 500 MW solar power projects in Rajasthan over the next three years, sources close to the development said. The planned investment is the largest investment in solar projects in India and one of the largest in the world. Indian Government expects cost of power from solar lanterns to come down by 2013

According to reports, the government on Monday said that the cost of power from solar lanterns was likely to come down by 2013 from Rs 11 per unit to the rate at which conventional electricity was generated. Tamil Nadu to rope in private partners for T&D
