400 Telecom Towers supported in pilot project for use of Solar Photovoltaic power systems by MNRE for FY11 in India

During FY 2010-11, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has supported pilot projects for use of Solar Photovoltaic power systems for 400 telecom towers. Government to prepare a national bio-energy mission to boost power generation from biomass

According to reports, the government is preparing a national bio-energy mission to boost power generation from biomass, a renewable energy source abundantly available in India. The mission, to be launched during the 12th Five-Year Plan, will offer a policy and regulatory environment to facilitate large-scale capital investments in biomass-fired power stations, Minister of New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah said. Assam government signs implementation agreement for 6MW Kalanga small hydel project

According to reports, the Assam Government and the Transstroy (India) Limited of Hyderabad today signed an Implementation Agreement for the proposed Kalanga (Stage I and II) Small Hydel Projects located on the Kalanga river in Karbi Anglong with an aggregate installed capacity of six MW. EoI for 500 MW solar power projects in September

According to reports, the government will float an expression of interest (EoI) in September for allocating 500 mw of solar power projects. This will be the second tranche of allocation in the first phase of the Jawaharlal Nehru New Solar Mission (JNNSM).  JNNSM project monitor SP Gon Chaudhuri said the second tranche of allocation would have more stringent technical specifications than the earlier one. Noida Power Company to run its offices on Solar Energy

According to reports, in a bid to switch over to environmental-friendly energy sources, the Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL) is all set to run its offices and substations on solar power. Vinod Khosla funded SunBorne Energy eyes Rs 45 bn revenue by FY16
