Madhya Pradesh inaugurates state’s first solar plant

According to reports, Madhya Pradesh Governor Rameshwar Thakur inaugurated the state’s first solar energy plant — with 20kw installed capacity — at Raj Bhawan yesterday. The governor said India was surging ahead in the generation of non-conventional energy. Referring to the adverse effects of global warming, Thakur laid stress on making constant efforts for research in the field of sustainable and green energy. It was extremely essential to develop alternative sources of energy in view of the limited availability of the conventional energy sources, he said.

State Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on this occasion that efforts were on to ensure optimum use of solar energy at the government buildings and offices in the state.
