Solar power plants in Rajasthan to get water from Indira Gandhi canal

According to reports, the Rajasthan government has directed Indira Gandhi Nahar Project (IGNP) to facilitate water supply for five solar power companies signed up under National Solar Mission. IGNP will release 12 cusec after signing up water agreement with these companies which together will generate 400 MW. Apart from that, IGNP has already reserved 400 cusec for solar plants proposed to come up alongside the canal region.

“We are in the process of signing water agreements with solar projects approved under National Solar Mission. We will provide water to companies which have got approvals from state government,” said IGNP chief engineer Birdhi chand.

Among these companies Rajasthan Sun Technique Energy Private Limited, KVK Energy Ventures and Diwakar Solar Projects will set up solar thermal plants of 100 MW each while Corporate Ispat Alloys Limited and Godawari Power and Ispat Limited will come up with 50 MW each in Jaisalmer district.
