Tamil Nadu Chief Minister seeks investments in power sector

Suzlon Rotor Corp. Receives $490,000 Penalty for Pollution Violations

In a court settlement with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, Suzlon Rotor Corp. has agreed to resolve air quality, hazardous waste, solid waste, and stormwater violations at its wind turbine blade manufacturing plant in Pipestone. Under the terms of the consent decree, entered July 7 in Pipestone County District Court, Suzlon has completed corrective actions, and will pay a civil penalty of $490,000. TNERC amends renewable energy purchase obligation regulations

According to reports, the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission has amended the regulations relating to ‘renewable energy purchase obligation’, lowering the quantum of the obligation, but bringing in more ‘obligated entities’. “It is extremely good for renewable energy producers,” commented Mr T. Shivaraman, Vice-Chairman, Orient Green Power Ltd, which produces electricity from windmills and biomass plants. Interest-free loans for e-bikes in Gujarat

According to reports, encouraged by the success of its educational initiative of ‘Flood-IT’ two years ago, the Gujarat Urban Co-operative Banks Federation (GUCBF) has now come up with another initiative, ‘Flood E-bike’, in which the State’s cooperative banks will provide interest-free loans to buyers of electric two-wheeler buyers as a measure to promote environment-friendly electric vehicles. Suzlon to ramp up Brazil, China & India operations

According to reports, Suzlon Energy plans to ramp up its market share this year, helped by growth in Europe, emerging markets such as India, Brazil and South Africa, and through orders for offshore turbines, its chairman said on Wednesday. Green Infra Gets Rs 80Cr More From IDFC PE; Makes Leadership Changes

According to reports, IDFC Private Equity is investing Rs 80 crore more in Green Infra Ltd, a renewable energy company which it had incubated and sponsored in 2008. IDFC PE, through its funds, had earlier invested Rs 360 crore in the company, thereby taking the total commitment to Rs 440 crore.
