According to reports, the Green Pledge is a small tangible way in which responsible corporations make a public promise to bring about a change in their energy usage and enable a low-carbon economy by advocating for a strong climate and energy policy at the national and international level.
The Green Pledge entails a strong commitment to shifting significantly towards renewable sources of energy to fulfil energy requirements and also to publicly share their initiatives on emission reduction solutions.
“No one can argue that the ICT sector played a significant role in transforming our lives and thereby contributing significantly to the country’s development. As we are poised at the brink of a massive climate catastrophe, it is this sector that can lead us into an energy revolution with innovative solutions for decarbonised sustainable development.” said Divya Raghunandan, Campaign Director, Greenpeace India.
Last year Greenpeace and CyberMedia had organized a CEO round table conference involving the industry icons wherein the focal point of discussion was how Indian business houses can save Rs 48 trillion every year by adopting clean energy solutions.
Pradeep Gupta, Chairman, CyberMedia India Online Ltd said, “With this initiative we urge the professionals in the ICT sector to come forward and take the pledge to support a green future.”
