MNRE invites suggestions for guidelines for selection of grid solar power projects under National Solar Mission during 2011-12

Under the first phase of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission, guidelines for selection of new grid solar power projects by NVVN were issued on 25th July, 2010.

During 2010-11, NVVN had selected new projects of about 620 MW capacity (470 MW of solar thermal and 150 MW of solar PV).

After the process of selection of projects was completed last year, some suggestions were made during seminars and discussions about capacity of the PV power plants and other aspects of the guidelines.

It is proposed to start the selection process for the balance capacity of new grid solar PV projects of the Phase-I of the Mission during 2011-12.

The ministry has called for suggestions on the following:

  • The maximum capacity of a PV grid power plant, which should be allowed at any location. (The eligible minimum plant capacity will continue to remain 5 MW.)
  • The maximum capacity (please specify numbers and total MWs ) for a group /company to set up grid solar PV power plants. (This should be in multiple of 5 MW)
  • Any need to modify or issue clarifications about any specificclause/condition of the guidelines issued on 25th July, 2010.
