Aplab Ltd today introduced modular Solar Array Simulator SAS 120-10 offering maximum power (up to 1200W) in a 1U high package. SAS 120-10 allows R&D engineers, manufacturing engineers and system integrators to accurately simulate the I-V curve of a solar panel’s array under various environmental conditions and thus offers a fully integrated solution for the design, development and production testing of inverters and micro-inverters for domestic and industrial solar energy systems.
Aplab SAS120/10 Modular Solar Array Simulator is a programmable DC Power Source that simulates output characteristics of a solar array. Model SAS120/10 is primarily a current source with low output capacitance and is capable of simulating I-V curve of solar arrays under different conditions like temperature, irradiance etc.
SAS is supported with intelligent front-end software that simulates any curve with Voc, Isc, Vmp, Imp parameters or manually programmed points. It provides simulation of Voc (open circuit voltage) up to 121V and Isc (short circuit current) up to 10.5A. The solar array simulator is highly stable and has a fast transient response design, both, advantageous for MPPT performance evaluation on PV inverter devices.
The system also offers Series Panel Simulation with data capture from instrument via the softpanel GUI. The modular architecture makes it easy to configure, re-configure and support this system. Apart the same unit can also be used as a standard DC power supply in Power Supply Mode thus giving dual operations in single package.
The Aplab modular solar array simulator offers many system-ready features to simplify the programming and control of the instrument. The system’s components include commercial-off-the-shelf instruments (COTS), a standard PC and standard interconnectivity RS232 (optionally USB/LAN) for low-cost, easy support and reduced downtime.
