Moser Baer Clean Energy Ltd (MBCEL) procures 25 MWp thin-film First Solar Modules – to be delivered by June 30, 2011

As readers of Panchabuta are aware,  Moser Baer Clean Energy Limited (MBCEL), a subsidiary of Moser Baer Projects Private Limited (MBPPL) has commissioned the country’s largest and the first 5 MW solar farm at Sivaganga in Tamil Nadu less than a month ago. The technical expertise for commissioning was provided by the EPC (Engineering Procurement Commissioning) arm of Moser Baer Solar Limited.

Moser Baer Solar Limited, which is today one of the top players in the global solar market as a supplier of panels and provider fo technical expertise for commissioning of solar projects.  MBCEL is positioning itself  as the leading solar farm developer in the country.

Also, MBCEL had announced a plan to raise more than $100mn to fund its solar projects.

Moser Baer Clean Energy Limited (MBCEL), the Solar subsidiary of Moser Baer Projects Private Limited (MBPPL), and First Solar Inc. (Nasdaq: FSLR) today announced that MBCEL will procure 25 megawatts (MW) DC of First Solar’s advanced thin-film modules for its solar power generation projects. Delivery is expected to take place by June 30, 2011.

Mr. Lalit Jain, Chief Operating Officer, International Operations, MBCEL Ltd. said, “We are very happy to have selected First Solar for meeting part of the requirement for our projects.

MBCEL is developing over 300 MWp of solar power projects in Germany, Italy, US, Australia and India and this marks the beginning of a mutually beneficial relationship in the long run.”

  1. Strange considering the fact that MoserBaer already manufactures PV modules(crystalline and thin film).
