According to reports, a contract has been signed between the Indian corporation Jain Solar Energy Pvt Ltd and the process equipment supplier Gebr. Schmid GmbH + Co. for two cell production lines with a total capacity of 13,200 solar cells per hour.
These production lines comprise the first joint project between the Jain Group and the Schmid Group. The funds to be invested in the final expansion phase totaling 400 megawatts (MW) lie in the hundreds of millions of Euros.
The cell production system is one of the most modern of its kind featuring the process cluster system. The individual process clusters are interconnected by the Montech Intralogistic System, which is controlled by the Schmid Overall Factory Control System. The final expansion stage will be installed in two phases to be delivered in the second and third quarters of 2011.
According to Schmid, the cell production lines are some of the most advanced available and feature the process cluster system that is claimed to provide a competitive CoO (cost of ownership) rate.
