According to reports, China and India plan to sign economic and trade agreements in areas including renewable energy, infrastructure and finance during Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao’s visit to India this week, the state-run Xinhua News Agency reported Monday, citing Liang Wenzhao, deputy director of the Commerce Ministry’s Asian affairs section.
Liang also urged Indian companies to boost investment in China. He noted India’s trade imbalance with China but said China has taken measures to boost imports from India, Xinhua reported.
Wen will visit India from Wednesday to Friday, Xinhua said.
According to analysts, China’s Suntech Power Holdings, is expected to make an entry in the Indian solar power space given that India is highly dependent on imports of critical raw materials including silicon wafer used for solar cells and panels.
